Cruciate ligament injuries are one of the most common injuries among athletes, and unfortunately, these injuries impede movement and may prevent a person from performing physical activities if appropriate treatment is not received. Cruciate ligament ruptures vary in degrees – between partial rupture and total rupture. Initially, treatment begins with relief of pain and symptoms. If a partial rupture develops into a complete anterior cruciate ligament tear, or one of the other cruciate ligaments is torn, the patient may undergo a minimally invasive surgery. During the recovery period, the patient undergoes physiotherapy sessions and a rehabilitation program to strengthen the quadriceps muscles and restore the knee joint’s normal range of motion.
