In an unprecedented medical achievement, the thyroid surgery team and head and neck tumors led by Dr. Abdullah Al-Arfaj and the thoracic surgery team led by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi at Al-Mousa Specialist Hospital in Al-Ahsa succeeded in removing a huge tumor in the thyroid gland extending into the chest and the superior vena cava of the heart.

The complex surgical operation was performed through a 7-cm incision in the neck. The tumor was removed from the neck and upper chest area, and then the remaining part inside the chest was removed through surgical laparoscopy from the right chest without the need to completely open the chest, as is done in traditional surgeries for such cases.
