This treatment is usually recommended for women with ovulatory disorders who have healthy fallopian tubes and a husband with normal semen parameters.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is a specialized procedure performed during ICSI/IVF to assess embryos before transfer. It helps identify certain genetic or chromosomal abnormalities and supports the selection of embryos for transfer based on the type of genetic testing recommended.

Who may benefit from PGT?

PGT may be recommended for:

• Couples with a known inherited genetic condition or a carrier (i.e. thalassemia, sickle cell disease and certain types of anemia, …etc)
  Patients with a history of recurrent miscarriage
  Women of advanced maternal age
  Patients with repeated IVF failure
  Cases where there is a higher risk of chromosomal abnormalities, especially if there is a history of a chromosomal condition in a previous child.

Types of PGT

PGT-A
screens embryos for chromosomal abnormalities, such as extra or missing chromosomes, which may affect implantation or increase the risk of miscarriage

PGT-M
is used when one or both partners carry a known inherited genetic condition. It tests embryos for a specific genetic disorder to help reduce the risk of passing it on to the child

Gender selection is a medical option available as part of IVF treatment, where embryos are tested prior to transfer to determine their chromosomal sex. This is achieved through preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).

Fertility preservation includes a range of options designed to help preserve the possibility of future pregnancy by freezing eggs, sperm, or embryos for later use in addition to ovarian tissue cryopreservation. These services may be recommended for medical reasons, prior to certain treatment like chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or as part of an IVF journey

The most suitable fertility preservation option depends on the couple’s medical condition, treatment plan, and personal circumstances, in line with applicable clinical and regulatory requirements in KSA.

Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA) and Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA) are minimally invasive sperm retrieval procedures used when sperm is absent from the ejaculate. To support optimal outcomes, we work in close collaboration with the Urology and Andrology teams at Almoosa Specialist Hospital as part of a coordinated approach to assisted reproductive treatment.

How do PESA and TESA work?

PESA:  involves retrieving sperm from the epididymis using a fine needle
TESA: involves retrieving sperm directly from the testicular tissue
