Patrick A. Charmel

Board Member

Patrick A. Charmel has had a long-standing association with Griffin Hospital, beginning in 1979 as a student intern during his time at Quinnipiac University. Over the years, he held various administrative roles before being appointed President in 1998. In addition to his role as President of Griffin Health Services Corporation, he serves as the CEO of Planetree Inc.

Charmel is also a co-author of the acclaimed book “Putting Patients First,” which earned the American College of Healthcare Executives’ Health Care Book of the Year award.

As a former President of the Board of Governors for the Quinnipiac University Alumni Association, Charmel is currently a University Trustee. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Quinnipiac after delivering the graduate commencement address in 2010.

After his graduation from Quinnipiac University, Charmel pursued a Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University, completing it in 1983. He resides in Hamden with his wife, Robyn, and their son, Patrick.
