Dr. Mark C. Gebhardt eleifend
Frederick W. and Jane M. Ilfeld Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
He has worked toward improving culturally competent care by being a mentor in the AAOS Communication Workshops and working with Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (primarily women in orthopaedics) and the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society (under-represented minorities in Orthopaedics). His work in mentoring women and minorities in orthopaedics has included recruiting women and minorities to the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and his Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at BIDMC. Dr. Gebhardt is an orthopaedic oncologist specializing in pediatric bone and soft tissue sarcomas and benign musculoskeletal tumors. He is past-President of numerous professional medical societies the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, the Connective Tissue Oncology Society, the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons, and the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association. He served on the AAOS Board of Directors, Chaired the Board of Specialty Societies, and served as Director of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
