Almoosa Specialist Hospital in Al Khobar has been named “Project of the Year” in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at the 2024 MEP Middle East Awards, in recognition of its outstanding achievement in sustainable design and advanced engineering excellence.
The award highlights Almoosa Health’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability in healthcare infrastructure. The hospital’s design incorporates state-of-the-art mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems that set new regional standards for efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.

Almoosa Specialist Hospital in Al Khobar is the first hospital in Saudi Arabia and the second in the GCC to pursue the prestigious WELL Certification, which focuses on promoting health, safety, and well-being within built environments. The hospital also holds the LEED Gold Certification, reaffirming its dedication to energy efficiency and sustainable construction.
The project is being developed under the supervision of Dar Al-Handasah, in collaboration with Sidara Perkins & Will, Introba, and Pierre-Yves Rochon, all renowned international firms in architecture and design.

Located on the New Al Khobar Corniche in the Bahar District, the project covers 45,000 square meters of land and includes a total built-up area of 325,000 square meters. When completed, it will be the largest hospital in the Eastern Province, featuring 400 beds and several Centers of Excellence. The facility will also include three underground parking levels accommodating up to 2,000 vehicles, providing convenient access for patients, visitors, and staff.
