Obesity Center

Overview

Obesity is a complex disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity isn’t just a cosmetic concern. It is a medical problem that increases your risk of other diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain cancers. There are many reasons why some people have difficulty avoiding obesity. Usually, obesity results from inherited factors, combined with the environment and personal diet and exercise choices.

The good news is that even modest weight loss can improve or prevent the health problems associated with obesity. Dietary changes increased physical activity, and behavior changes can help you lose weight. Prescription medications and weight-loss procedures are additional options for treating obesity.

We have a multidisciplinary team of nutritionists, psychologists, and endocrinologist consultants to follow up and evaluate the case from all aspects before surgery.

The center enjoys a good reputation and high reliability from patients. In 2018 the obesity center became a center of excellence after achieving merit accreditation from the SRC organization, which is the global standard for quality in bariatric surgeries. SRC is a non-profit organization that awards international accreditations to hospitals and surgeons to improve patient safety and reduce infection and death rates in surgeries.

Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery

It involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly to the small intestine. After gastric bypass, swallowed food will go into this small pouch of the stomach and then directly into the small intestine, thereby bypassing most of your stomach and the first section of your small intestine.

Gastric bypass is one of the most commonly performed types of bariatric surgery. Gastric bypass is done when diet and exercise haven’t worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight.

Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

It is the most requested medical procedure that may be used to treat obesity and other matters such as malignant tumors. Some studies indicate that the gastric sleeve operation leads to a loss of 33% of a person’s weight in the first three months of the operation, which is a process that preserves the body’s physiology and does not make any change to it.

Besides other advantages, as it does not require more than an hour in the operating room, it does not require any surgical intervention.

Converting from Sleeve Gastrectomy to Laparoscopic Graft

Converting the sleeve to the pathway system may be preferred for certain conditions and under specific restrictions determined by the doctors inside the center.

Conversion of an Adjustable Gastric Band to a Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve

Some people may resort to implanting a stomach ring that helps lose weight. Due to many reasons, including infections, patients may prefer to switch to the sleeve gastrectomy or bypass system.
