Saving a patient’s life after a mitral valve rupture

I feel unbearable pains in my chest.. I can’t breathe.. This is how our patient described his condition when he arrived at the hospital’s emergency department, complaining that he had been this way for nearly an hour.

An emergency ECG was done immediately, and it was found that the patient had a severe clot in the right coronary artery. Within minutes, an angioplasty was performed and the right coronary artery was opened and a drug stent was installed. Mitral valve was done

A medical team was formed under the leadership of Professor Ghannam Al-Dossary, Consultant Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon and Head of the Heart, Thoracic and Vascular Center at the hospital.

The operation was successful, thanks to God, and the patient stayed in the hospital for four days, after which he was discharged in good health.

About mitral valve rupture caused by coronary artery thrombosis:

It is one of the rare developments, as it affects only 2% of those who suffer from arterial clots, and the speed of diagnosis and treatment of these cases is one of the most important elements for the patient’s survival, and it also requires special surgical skills to deal with patients in their extremely dangerous condition.
